Final Standings - Season 5

As the curtains come down on this edition's football season, we witnessed Bukit Merah's resurgence and remained unbeaten throughout all matches to lift the Premier League trophy for the second time; matching MacPherson's 2 previous triumphs.

Sembawang's fantastic run in the title chase was only halted by the champion's drubbing in Matchday 3 as they finished bridesmaids. Surprise package Ang Mo Kio shook off first day jitters by winning all their remaining games, barring a defeat to (also) Bukit Merah to finish a creditable third, holding off Bedok who only lost their podium position after a nervous breakdown against Sembawang in the final match of the season.

Taman Jurong and MacPherson's youthful charges held their own as they fought tooth and nail against older opponents. This bodes well as they prepare for next season's challenge. Geylang West will rue their meek surrender of the title as the team fell into pieces after Matchday 1. Not one to overlook for next season as they regroup to mount a serious comeback come 2012.

Here we are again, at the end of another season. The league title is still at stake, and all eyes will be on the Ang Mo Kio - Bukit Merah game. Both Bedok and Sembawang will be backing Ang Mo Kio for an upset. If that happens, both will then play each other for a chance at the title. Otherwise, Bukit Merah will add a second championship trophy on their mantle. Ang Mo Kio will also look to secure Third place from Bedok.

Other than the league race, the individual award race is also wide open. No one has more than 2 Man of the Match awards (MOMs). And the search for the league's MVP is pretty much alive. Ang Mo Kio's Noriswandi Bin Satiman and Bedok's Syed Ahmad Naqib each have 2 MOMs and are the current league eladers. The league's Golden Boot award is also up for grabs; Marine Parade's Muhd Asri Bin Kamarudin currently leads with 9 goals, but he has to face Geylang West and Sembawang on the final day. Bedok's Syed Ahmad Naqib will have to add to his tally for his team to have a chance of winning the league. He currently has 8 goals to his name in a truly stunning season where he has come of age. Geylang West's Gary Tan is also in with a chance, and Geylang West will look to regain some pride.

T-Net Club Match Day 3 Round Up

Controversy reigned last saturday. League leaders Geylang West failed to turn up for their league matches, and they unfortunately had those games forfeited. That meant good news for Ang Mo Kio, Bedok, Bukit Merah and Sembawang who leapfrogged above them in the standings. Those forfeited games now means that Geylang West will fail to retain their championship, thought the tight individual awards race still means that individuals like Gary Tan and Ghanisheelan still have an opportunity to capture the league's Golden Boot and MVP award.

Bukit Merah went top of the table with 3 wins. A familiar face turned up, as last season's Golden Boot winner, Muhd Hazzuwan, made his first appearance for his new team. His addition galvanised then Bukit Merah attack, giving them that extra zest which was missing on the opening day. They romped 5 goals past Sembawang, despite the heroics of Sembawang keeper Muhd Yushammil. Bukit Merah star Muhd Ridzwan Katerman opened his account for the season, after his sluggish display 2 weeks ago. But his performance was marred by a sending off for verbally abusing the referee. It was petulant, but his luck holds out as his suspension is considered served after Bukit Merah's next game was a walk over win over Geylang West.

Sembawang stays in second place despite the loss to Bukit Merah. A rather nervous display against Bukit Merah prevents them from topping the table, but they sill have a chance to win the league for the very first time if they win their next two games against Marine Parade and Bedok, and Bukit Merah fails to gather full points in their two games. In Muhd Yushammil, Sembawang posses one of the best keepers in the league according to former Golden Glove winner, Abdul Munaf. Sembawang will look to not repeat the fall of 2007, where the team fell from 2nd place to 6th place after crashing to 2 defeats on the final day.

Bedok also has a slim chance of winning the league, but they'd need both Sembawang and Bukit Merah to lose at least one of their matches. Muhd Khairulnizam Bin Irwan returned to attack with captain Syed Ahmad Naqib, and Bedok looked more dangerous than ever. Both have combined to score a whopping 13 goals. But a surprise loss to Ang Mo Kio severely dented their title hopes. Stranger things have happened though, and Bedok remains one of the fun teams to watch.

Ang Mo Kio came to life on the 3rd matchday, inspired by another ex-Geylang West member, Noriswandi Bin Satiman. His all-action display in attack (contrastingly different to his heroics in goal for Geylang West last season) troubled defenders and alleviated the pressure off defender Muhd Zulfiqarl, who even managed to pop up on the other end to score a goal. They are unable to win the league, but both Bedok and Sembawang fans will be hoping they manage an upset over leaders Bukit Merah. Much will depend on Norsatiman's shoulders.

Marine Parade's season continue to disappoint. Injuries have robbed them of playmaker, Muhd Hyder, and now a freak incident has taken Muhd Lukman Bin Rifpin who had starred in Hyder's absence. Defeated by Bedok and Ang Mo Kio, they can only rue on what might have been if their luck with injuries were not so severe. Defender Muhd Irfan bin Muhd Imran has been a real star despite the losses, and striker Muhd Asri Bin Kamarudin has come to the fore. He now leads the whole league with 9 goals.

MacPherson and Taman Jurong failed to build up on their promising opening day display. And both sit firmly in the bottom 2 positions. A fine final day display will go a long way in alleviating the dreads of this season.

T-Net Club Premier League 2011 Day 1 Round Up

The morning rain cleared up in time for the T-Net Club Premier League to go on as scheduled. Many familiar faces like Ghanisheelan of Geylang West, Muhd Ridzwan Bin Katerman of Bukit Merah, Syed Ahmad Naqib of Bedok and Amir Bin Zalani of Sembawang returned to the league this season, but the first day of competition belonged to several new faces like Geylang West’s Gary Tan, who now tops the Golden Boot Race with 5 goals and Muhd Amirul of MacPherson, whose silky skills seem to make him the natural heir to their star player last season, Muhd Fadizwan.

We review the performances of the teams yesterday:

Ang Mo Kio
With only one 16 year old as the oldest and two 13 year old players in their rank, Ang Mo Kio showcased a very young team in the league. And what a baptism of fire it was for them; having to face both Geylang West and Sembawang on their debut. Even then, they managed to compete well despite the one-sided score line. Muhd Zulfiqarl’s composed performance at the back helped to repel many of the attackers that their midfield failed to stem. Their final standings in the league this year will depend heavily on his performances during the rest of the season.

Bedok
Bedok’s route one football earned them a draw against last season’s runner up, Bukit Merah. Syed Ahmad Naqib’s pace and tireless workrate continues to bother defences, and as long as their defence keeps out the goals, Bedok is always capable of nicking a few goals from the nippy Syed Ahmad Naqib. The T-Net Club Premier League witnessed the return of “journeyman” Muhd Fadli aka Nani, (who has now represented three different clubs throughout the five T-Net Club Premier League seasons) albeit in the unfamiliar role of Goalie. His performance at the anchor of the defence will be vital if Bedok wishes to finish amongst the league leaders.

Bukit Merah
Bukit Merah will look to improve on their finish last season, but their season took an unexpected early stumble when they only managed to draw their first game against Bedok. Muhd Izzudin bossed the midfield very well with support from Ng Zi Yuan on the flanks, but their failure to convert their possession into goals allowed Bedok to launch several quick counter attacks. Their defence were clearly bothered and questions will be asked of them the next time they face a speedy strike force. Last season’s star, Ridzwan Bin Katerman struggled in attack, and his heavily bandaged knee seems to suggest that injuries are slowing him down. Nonetheless, they still remain one of the favourites to win the league title after they out-battled Marine Parade in their second match.

Geylang West
Last season’s Les Invincibles, continued their dominance of the league, despite an overhaul of their team. Only Ghanisheelan s/o Vijayakumar remained from the team, but the team’s silky performance against Ang Mo Kio and MacPherson suggests that they are still the team to beat this year. Last season’s Golden Boot winner, Muh Hazzuwan is not in the team, but they unearthed a new gem in the current league’s top scorer, Gary Tan. Assured in playing possession football, Coach Wahab has managed to keep his team playing the Generasi way despite the many changes.

MacPherson
Another youthful team, MacPherson will heavily rely on Muhd Amirul, who has to fill the enormous shoes of past legends like Muhd Fairuz, Abdul Razip and Muhd Fadizwan. His silky skills allows him to hold up the ball in attack to give his overworked defence some breather, but he will need to trust his teammates more, especially when they sprint up to support him in attack. They were on par with Marine Parade, before they were dismantled by the class of Geylang West.

Marine Parade
Marine Parade remains a very solid team, but they clearly miss their bullish playmaker Muhd Hyder. Muhd Luqman Bin Rifpin’s industrial displays allowed Marine Parade to outnumber MacPherson and Bukit Merah both in defence and attack, but he needs Muhd Hyder’s passes to set him up in good attacking positions. They were desperately unlucky to concede an early goal to MacPherson before equalising with a late goal. Their 2-0 loss to Bukit Merah failed to reflect how close that game was. With a little bit more flair, the team would be heavily fancied. Rumours abound that Muhd Hyder will return next week, and opponents will be keeping their fingers crossed for otherwise.

Sembawang
It was a fruitful day for the boys in blue as they nicked 6 points yesterday. Unruffled in defence, and industrious in attack, Sembawang showed good balance in the team to share top spot with Geylang West. Goalie Muhd Yushamil was almost beaten by a peach of a shot from an early Taman Jurong attack, but he recovered from that early shock to put in a unfussy performance in goal. He allowed his midfield to build up attack after attack. Last season’s top scorer, Amir Bin Zalani was largely wasteful in front of goals, but Fadli Bin Alias produced several lung busting runs down the left flank and scored 2 goals ala Gareth Bale. But questions remain of their temperament when they meet the big teams in the league.

Taman Jurong
Taman Jurong sits at the bottom of the league, just 2 goals under Ang Mo Kio. They were well disciplined and well organised. And it was no shame that they lost to the top 2 teams in the league (according to the league table), Geylang West and Sembawang. Many teams will struggle against those teams, and with those fixtures out of the way, they will look to gain some points against the other teams. Ruban Kumar and Muhd Salman will do well in the league.

The final day action saw plenty of fight from the underdogs. Taman Jurong finally bared some fangs, and doubled their goal tally for the season. Led by 3-goal hero Danish Syafiq and star player Noah Seah, they gave MacPherson a horrid time. However, MacPherson's awesome firepower upfront overwhelmed them as time went on. A Man of the Match performance from Muhd Nasri allowed the attacking quartet of Zaidi Zainudin, Muhd Harry, Muhd Fadizwan and Shafiee Affendy to run riot and score 10 against Taman Jurong.

The Marine Parade-Sembawang game saw the biggest upset of the night. Sembawang shocked them with early goals from top scorer Amir Zailani and Ahmad Adli. Without top scorer Ahmad Khidir, Marine Parade struggled to break down Sembawang's defence marshaled by Man of the Match, Ridzwan Khamis. Marine Parade's bullish playmaker Muhd Hyder attempted to take charge of the game with his goal, but he failed several times to spot his teammates in excellent positions inside the penalty box. In the end, Marine Parade had to settle for a 2-2- draw.

Bukit Merah took to the field knowing that they needed a win against Ang Mo Kio and a positive result from the Bedok-Geylang West match to win the league. They were missing top scorer and star player Sadiq Sanusi, but the bright performances of both Ng Zi Yuan and Ridzwan Katerman ensured that they dominated Ang Mo Kio easily. Ridzwan Katerman in particular enjoyed being the focal point of Bukit Merah's attack, as he smashed 6 goals to finish second in the Golden Boot race. Ng Zi Yuan started the ball rolling with 2 early goals before Ridzwan Katerman took over. Together, they both led Bukit Merah to a 11-0 win.

But for all of Bukit Merah's efforts, Geylang West were hardly bothered in their rather routine 6-3 win over Bedok. Bedok have undoubtedly found a productive strike force in Syed Ahmad Naqib and Muhd Khairulnizam, which will be a duo to look out for next season. They combined well and managed to cause a nuisance of themselves. But Geylang West were always in control of the game. Muhd Serajudeen worked his socks off, lending support to both his attack and defence, ensuring they always had an extra player in each department in a performance that showcased his deserving Player of the Year form. Despite missing the league's Golden Boot winner, Muhd Hazzuwan, Toh Kian Keong and Ghanisheelan both scored to make up for his absence. Ghanisheelan finally earned bragging rights at home, winning the T-Net Club Premier League, something his brother, former T-Net Club Player of the Year, Karthigesan never managed in his career.

So the season finally comes to end. We at T-Net Club will like to thank all the players and volunteers who dedicated their time and effort throughout the whole league. We look forward to seeing the players in action again.

Match Day 3 Summary

If Geylang West goes on to win the league this season, they will no doubt think back to their epic 6th game against MacPherson on Match day 3 at Wellington Circle as the day they proved their championship mettle. Trailing 2-4 to a Muhd Fadizwan hat-trick, Geylang West rallied back to win 5-4 led by their goalie-turned-striker, who used his fresh legs to great effect.

Bukit Merah and Marine Parade stayed close to Geylang West to ensure a tense final day, as they won both of their games. Bukit Merah striker Muhd Sadiq and Marine Parade midfielder Muhd Hyder continued their fine form to lead their respective teams, and ensure that they stay in contention for the Player of the Year award.

MacPherson and Sembawang had tough games on the day, and though they came close to winning their respective matches, their opponent's quality proved too much in the end. They each lost their 2 matches, and that allowed Bedok the opportunity to finish above both MacPherson and Sembawang on the final day.

Bedok will again hold the key to the Championship. Bukit Merah in 2008 and Marine Parade in 2009, will surely remember their final day losses to Bedok which cost them the title in their respective year. This time, both will need Bedok to work their magic on Geylang West. Former league Top Goal Scorer, Muhd Khairulnizam bin Khamis, is no longer around to provide the goals for Bedok, but they have found a natural successor! The similarly named, Muhd Khairulnizam Bin Irwan, just 13 years old this year, smashed 8 goals against Taman Jurong, and Bedok will need his goals off the bench to grab some points off Geylang West.

The bottom of the table clash between Ang Mo Kio and Taman Jurong saw 9 goals scored, with 6 belonging to Ang Mo Kio. Taman Jurong proved they could play some good football, but their slight built again resulted in them tiring out fast, and allowing their opponents to dominate.

Of shinguards and boots...

Bukit Merah, whom ended MacPherson's stranglehold on the Premier League title, are returning this season to defend their crown. Bidding to be the next club to win back-to-back titles, they will be taking to the field with a squad of new faces, being the graduates of their junior teams. Meanwhile, the other clubs are gearing up to mount serious challenges to the 2 title holders with scouting duties from neighbourhoods and players who have been overlooked in schools.

The rest of the league will also see new faces, amongst them many players from the respective clubs' U-14 teams, whom have blossomed into budding youth talents.

Perhaps the most exciting news for this season would be players finally lacing up and taking to the field. That is affirmative, the league will embark on it's first field challenge as the format will take shape in the form of 7-a-side football, having previously groomed young players in skills development from Street Soccer and Futsal.

Tactics and formations will be taking centrestage.

Only the shrewdest decisions on-field will see the most consistent club emerge as this year's Premier League Champion.

Changing of a dynasty

This is football. Manchester United FC is the English powerhouse, but not Leeds Utd nor Newcastle Utd. Great teams build their success on solid foundations. They are always able to cope with transition periods. Afterall, Cantona, Sir Bobby Charlton and George Best cannot play forever. And they always seem to go one further after losing their best players.

Ever since the T-Net Club Premier League started in 2007, it has almost been a 2-horse race between Bukit Merah and MacPherson. The other teams are seen as the bridesmaids, never the bride. Back-to-back championship triumphs by MacPherson only adds more heartache for the boys from Bukit Merah. It is painful to recall the times when the title seemed so near, and yet so far.

However, as the League enters it's 3rd year in competition, those who have been following (it) regularly, looking at the results and standing will be as shocking as seeing Michael Jackson walking along Orchard Road. A mere 6 miserable points, pathetic 10 goals to show and an incredible 25 goals conceded from the 2-time defending champions? (more than the total of 2 previous seasons put together, in 28 games) One began to suspect if their players were hit by the notorious swine flu and were quarantinedin Aloha resort, thus sending out a bunch of 10year-olds to make up the numbers.

Fortunately, the Influenza H1N1 did not hit the T-Net Clubs. The unfortunate part is that MacPherson did not field a team of primary school children. Now, we are looking at a test for a team who, either is still basking in past glories, or a team that will always be considered great. Star players such as Muhd Fairuz (Season 1 Golden Boot winner) and Abdul Razip (Season 2 Player of the Season) are no longer eligible to play due to coming of age. Their trusty younger teammates suddenly found life much harder without their seniors. Just ask Mathan Kumar. With 13 goals tallied in 2008, he failed to register his name in the score sheet in the first 4 matches this year. Succession didn't come as fast as the swine flu did.

Good news for the boys from MacPherson, they did manage to claim all 3 points against Taman Jurong and Bedok last weekend, at Matchday 2. This season could be a testing period for character building though. It has never been club culture to engage teams from the public to compete with others. Does this ring a bell? Sounds like Arsene Wenger (Arsenal FC manager).

Can the boys from the Circuit Road neighbourhood emerge from the shadows of their illustrious seniors and build an empire of their own? Only time will tell. But for this season, a mid-table finish shall be the defending champion's top priority.

Goalscoring Prowess

What a spectacle at The Cage yesterday as we enjoyed a flurry of goals from all the teams, most notably Marine Parade and Geylang West, which accounted for 26 of the total 65 goals scored on Matchday 2.

Did you miss the 3 hat-tricks by Muhd Hazly of Bukit Merah? The goalmouth dangerman has now amassed a scary 14 goals, making him the runaway top scorer at the moment.

The regular contributors are now hot on the heels behind Muhd Hazly, with Khairulnizam (BK), Karthigesan (GW) and Mathan Kumar (MacP) finally wearing their scoring boots.

Two players have quietly crept up the chart and are helping their teams be where they are now. It is no wonder Ahmad Khidhir (MP) and Muhd Sharul (BM) are new important assets to the 2 teams sitting comfortably at the top of the table now.

Let's now shift our attention to Geylang West. It certainly hasn't gone unnoticed that almost the whole squad can score goals. Just look at the chart and you find every player contributing to the goal cause. So...you ask. How to stop conceding goals to Geylang West then? The answer is to park your team bus in between your 2 goal-posts. Forget man-marking. It just will not work. By the way, just scroll down the list and you'll find last season's goal machine, Mohd Serajudeen. He is back!!! Don't say i didn't warn you guys!

Ang Mo Kio, meanwhile, is depending heavily on Radin Zainuddin and Muhd Zaki to convert more of the limited chances they have now, to try and improve on their best placed finish.

The plight of Taman Jurong is getting more anxious by every Matchday as they have only Mohd Danial to thank for at the moment. That is the main reason why the team is rooted at the bottom of the table. If you don't score goals, you don't win matches. Simple as that.

If Sembawang are to avoid the disappointment of last-day jitters of the past 2 seasons, they may have to cough up more goals and secure more victories and hold on to their position in the table. It's not looking too good at Matchday 2. They have relinguished the runner-up spot and now start as underdogs next week.

As we run through the list, it's easy to spot at least 10 names who are going to light up this season's Premier League. We'll be on alert to see the storm that they will be stirring up soon...

Highlights of Matchday 1

At the end of the opening day's matches, we were left wondering what some of the stars of the previous seasons were polishing their boots. In the unpredictable footballing world, the unthinkable would be to experience the second season syndrome, where teams just fade into the wilderness. (see Reading FC)

An exodus in the Marine Parade team has actually done more good, as the reshuffling and rebuilding exercise propped them up to 3rd place with 2 wins on Matchday 1 alone.

With award winning players like Karthigesan back to strengthen Geylang West's striking department, he has failed to shake off his injuries which left him out of the squad in Season 2, thus unable to produce the form that brought him the Player of the Season.

Last season's top marksman, Khairulnizam is still wondering where he left his scoring boots, as he struggled to make an impact on Matchday 1. Bedok must be eagerly waiting for their talisman to start banging in the goals to help their push for honours.

In a surprise package that comes in 2 parts, last season's wonderkid who blasted his way into the footballing scene in the League, Mathan Kumar, who turned everybody's head with an amazing 13 goals has yet to smell the goalmouth, with none to show after 4 matches. Part reason why MacPherson is rooted at the bottom at the moment. Everyone's anxiously anticipating him to break his duck soon, and the goals will flow...

On a positive note, another player has not gone unnoticed. We're talking about Muhd Hazly from Bukit Merah. The pint-sized playmaker puts most strikers to shame as he slammed home 7 goals in 4 games to finish top of the goalscoring charts. He converts chances presented by his hardworking teammates and even creates his own openings, that is 1 player we will be looking out for from now on...

Geylang West has its team, building on foundations that go back to the first season, will be hoping the backbone of the squad, with silent contributors like Da Silva, Leow Wei Sheng and Shafiee would make them serious title contenders this term.

Bedok has always been blessed with safe pairs of hands, with the ineligibility of overage custodian, Abdul Munaf, the team have found another promising player who might just shut out the goal supply of the other teams. Nawi NurHakim is certainly one gem waiting to be polished. Watch out for him!

Some of the other players that came to out attention include Muhd Zaki from Ang Mo Kio, Muhd Faiz from Taman Jurong, Muhd Farhan from Sembawang, Shafiyuddin and Aidil Iskandar, both of whom plays for Marine Parade. Let's see what's in store from them in Matchday 2 as we continue to lookout for more raw talent.

Football Frenzy

After 4 rounds of competition in Matchday 1, we have witnessed several early surprises in the Premier League. Back-to-back defending champions of the past 2 years, MacPherson, got off to a disastrous start as they slumped to 4 straight defeats, ending the opening day holding the wooden spoon.

In a show of prowess after final day disappointments in the last 2 seasons, Bukit Merah is set to show the rest of the teams they won't be early season wonders and will not be slipping up that easily this year. They romped home 4 crushing defeats to their opponents, breaching their goalmouths 16 times in the process. Sembawang makes up the other promising title contenders as they also notched up 3 wins and a draw to finish Matchday 1 hot on the heels of leaders Bukit Merah, just 2 points behind.

Marine Parade, on the other hand, have assembled a reasonably strong squad this season as they strive to move away from the basement cellar of previous editions. They are certainly finding goals easy to come by and is the main reason why they are sitting comfortable in an unusually and unfamiliar 3rd place, just ahead of regular challengers, Geylang West on goal difference. Pin your hopes on the latter if you're looking at a possible new champion.

The trio of Bedok, Ang Mo Kio and Taman Jurong, too have made significant changes and additions to their squads and are mounting a strong challenge to fend off their stronger opponents, determined to end the season at the top half of the table. Ang Mo Kio, yet to register their first win, is fast gaining reputation as a draw specialist, which would not help them in the points tally. While Bedok is gaining momentum slowly with a decent 4 points from 4 games, they will have to step up their game on Matchday 2 if they want to stand any chance of being title contenders. Meanwhile, Taman Jurong, who have displayed none of the flamboyant style of play from the past 2 years, are finding it hard to find the back of the net and is also badly let down by its ultra leaky defence.

Commencement of Season 3

The new season kicks off this afternoon at the Sports Planet at East Coast Park. All the teams for this new installment of the T-Net Club Premier League have been issued 2 brand new sets of home and away strips.

The 8 teams will begin Matchday 1 playing 4 matches each. With the inclusion of new young players, this year promises more excitement and a level playing field. The stalwarts of the past 2 seasons will be leading out their teams to try and de-throne MacPherson, who have been defending champions for the past 2 years.

Season 3 also welcomes back previous award winners, Karthigesan and Khairulnizam from, Geylang West and Bedok respectively, to defend their titles. Will we see an emerging star? Or the powerhouses winning from strength to strength?

The artificial turf was so much fun that players executed tricks with ease and performed many twists and turns.

The atmosphere resembled a night match at the stadium. A first in the history of the T-Net Club Premier League. Previous matches were held in the day.

A New Beginning

The new season is back!

This year's T-Net Club Premier League will kick-off its second season at the Stadio @ Singapore Khalsa Association at 8pm. In what promises to be another season of thrills and spills, will we see another Taman Jurong of last season who stunned everybody by coming from behind to capture the runner-up spot by ousting Sembawang on the very last day of the season? Or will we witness MacPherson defending their crown as league champions?

The 8 T-Net Clubs will all start on a clean slate and battle it out for the title of champions for 2008.

Another 14 rounds of competition will take place at Stadio, FICO Sports Hub (18 Oct), The Cage (19 Oct) and Choa Chu Kang Stadium (26 Oct). So if you want to catch up with all the action, it's all happening at the above-mentioned venues. Matches kick off at 3pm except for CCK (12pm).

Special goals, special guests...

As the identity of the would-be champion start unveiling itself, we turned our attention to the guest-of-honour of the day, Mr Shamsul Maidin, the referee who did Singapore proud at the FIFA World Cup 2006 with stunning displays of the highest standards in officiating football matches. It was hoped his appearance will give a momentary thrust of fire into the players...upping their motivation. And sure it did...

Signs of good things to come...

The final round of matches of this year's Premier League will draw to a close at The Cage Indoor Football Stadium in Kallang next Sunday, 26 August 2007. There, we will witness the title-deciding matches as anyone of the top 4 teams have still got mathematical chances of clinching the championship.

How does playing on a blue pitch appeal to you?

The final 8 matches take place on this astro-turf pitch, complete with side cushions and line markings. This is the 1st indoor football stadium and our players will be one of the first to experience the adrenalin of playing on an artificial pitch.

Nestled in a quiet corner in Kallang near the soon-to-be torn down National Stadium, it will be hard for anybody to miss the 2 bright red buildings, housing the 4 pitches on offer.

There is an outdoor relaxation area where players can cool off after matches or do their warm-ups. The umbrella-like canopies provide ample shelter.

Before you enter the pitch, you'll notice this holding area where spectators can cheer for their teams. Spot the substitute's bench?

Each pitch has its own toilets so there is no need for a mad rush to the bushes! Haha...

The highlight of the afternoon is a celebrity all-star match. This will feature the best players of the tournament and some mystery players, to be revealed very soon...

And did we mention that cash vouchers will be given out to the winners of some games we are all familiar with? (Hint: about football)

The top clubs will be glorified in the pitch at the end of the all-star match. And not forgetting the winners of the individual awards. How does it feel like to be Manchester United when they lifted the Premiership trophy last season? We'll find out next Sunday...

A reminder to all players! Matchday 6 matches for Bedok will be shifted to Geylang West due to unsuitability of the pitch.

The 4 scheduled matches shall be played in Geylang West instead.

Teams have to adjust your transport arrangements.

Take note not to travel to the wrong venue.
